About the event

The Greeneville/Greene County Public Library is thrilled to announce the return of its beloved Summer

Reading Program, kicking off on Tuesday, May 28th and running throughout the month of June! This year's

theme, "Adventure Begins at Your Library!", invites children and teens of all ages to embark on exciting

literary journeys.

It's a key part of the library's mission to promote literacy and a love of reading. The program's themed

events, activity-filled workbooks, and prize opportunities aim to make summer reading both fun and

rewarding.

Summer reading programs are crucial in preventing what educators call the "summer slide." Studies show

that children who don't read regularly over the summer can experience learning loss. The

Greeneville/Greene County Public Library's Summer Reading Program is designed to keep young minds

engaged and excited about reading, ensuring a smooth transition back to school in the fall.

Themed Events: Every Tuesday morning from May 28th through June 25th (9:30 – 11:30 am), the

library will come alive with exciting events centered around themes like Science, History, and

Fantasy. Participants can expect a mix of activities, stories, crafts, demonstrations, special guests,

and delicious snacks! Drop in any time during the event hours and explore at your own pace.

Adventure Workbooks: Participants will receive a workbook filled with engaging activities and

challenges to complement their summer reading adventures. Completing these challenges unlocks

entries for exciting prize drawings! The workbooks will also serve as reading logs, where participants

can track their minutes of reading each day.

Age-Specific Tracks: The program caters to all ages with three distinct tracks – one for early

readers, another for elementary school students, and a final track designed specifically for teens.

Each track features tailored reading goals and activities to ensure an enjoyable and enriching

experience for every participant.\

Spark a love of reading this summer! Join us for the "Adventure Begins at Your Library!" Summer Reading

Program.
